When fall is in the air, so is the excitement of our annual family and friend’s picnic. Families from all over the United States make plans to join in the celebration as we open our hearts and our homes to all who make the journey. With laughter and friendship, we share with one another a special day of togetherness as we meet new people and say hello to those who have made the picnic an annual event. This year brought together two hundred and fifty-six people to the festivities. We danced the afternoon away with our friend Scott, of Wileman Mobile DJ, as he is always wonderful with the personal requests of our folks. They would certainly never let him forget the chicken dance, the limbo, the locomotion, the cha cha, the electric slide, the hula hoops, or the hats for the dancers of the YMCA, to name a few crowd pleasers. For the last several years we have also taken the opportunity to recognize our special people who have lived with us for over fifteen, twenty, and twenty-five years. As they make their acknowledgements to the room of family and friends, tears of joy and heartfelt understanding is felt throughout. This special day provides a wonderful opportunity to catch a family photo, share a story, laugh out loud, dance till we drop, but most importantly a time to just appreciate all that we have.
