While going for a nature hike, riding a bike, or using exercise equipment is great for weight loss and a healthy lifestyle, it is always important to continue adding new forms of exercise into this everyday task. Earlier this year, a staff member, Angie Lazu, recruited her brother, Mike Conigliaro, who is a Zumba instructor to come and teach the residents and staff here at PWHO. Zumba is described as a dynamic, fast-paced, exciting, and fun exercise that combines both Latin and International music. Every Monday and Wednesday, Mike brings his high energy and passion to our Corporate Gym and leads both the residents and staff here at PWHO in an hour of calorie-burning fun. It is also something that the staff enjoys doing which is very motivating for the residents. Zumba is held two nights a week for six weeks. We are currently in the second six week session and have gone from 26 participants to 40. “I like that it is something new and different.” said Melissa M. Carlie J. said, “I love it. I love the music.” Zumba is indeed a hit, and something we are sure to continue.
